What is ARTvision?

ARTvision Atlanta is an online celebration of the expressive arts, representing offerings from artists that creates new funding and resources for our beneficiary, Positive Impact.

Launched in 2006, ARTvision was conceived by Will Pollock to honor his aunt, Betsy Weedon, who was a philanthropic leader in San Francisco's Bay Area. Betsy lost a fight with cancer in April 2006.

Later that year we raised nearly $1,500 for the International Gay & Lesbian Human Rights Commission, a group working hard to defend the rights of marginalized gay men and women in developing countries and within oppressive cultures. We'd like to acknowledge Paula Ettelbrick, the group's Executive Director, for her hard work and for her partnership in ARTvision's inaugural year.

The year following, we raised nearly $3,000 for AIDS Survival Project. In addition to expanding our offerings to music,
Citabria Phillips, Betsy's niece, offered two of her paintings for sale - one of which ("Skirt," pictured here) sold to Barb Shadomy, owner of Stonehurst Place. Citabria's piece now hangs in "The Shag"'s Hinman Suite.

ARTvision is unique because all artists present their pieces for your consideration as 100% donations - and buyers' direct donations to Positive Impact constitute purchases. Many of these purchases can be picked up at Will's annual Gourmet Pizza party on New Year's Eve. (click here for a site map)

This year, we will hold an exclusive ARTvision viewing and buying period prior to the party, on 31 Dec. 2008, between 4 and 6 p.m.

We'd like to extend thanks to Craig Eister, an ARTvision 2006 buyer of "Miles Away," who has helped champion ARTvision from its inception and has worked so expertly with AIDS Survival Project.

Craig's tireless work with ASP, including his annual "And The Winner Is..." Academy Awards Gala event, has inspired many to give generously of their time and money, including me.

This year, please welcome
Positive Impact as ARTvision 2008's beneficiary. PI provides critical mental-health and HIV prevention services to metro Atlanta - and will benefit greatly from your participation. read more
