"Translucent" - $800

(ATLANTA :: 13 Dec. 2008) My mother, Mary Pollock - also Betsy Weedon’s sister - offers up “Translucent,” a piece that is part of a series she did for school.

“The oil painting series were done as a requirement for my graduate application at UC Berkeley,” she told me. “I was accepted into the MFA program but later chose not to go because I met your father.” (Obviously, I’m glad they stayed!)

With a bachelor’s from
Skidmore College (my alma mater) and a Fashion Illustration concentration at Parsons School of Design, this particular series became an expression of texture.

“They were done with model airplane paint on paper; I loved the colors and movement and the way the paper took the colors so smoothly. It was more an expression of a sensual relationship with the materials and the feelings in my head in a general way.”

Translucent” is offered at $800 and will be on display on New Year’s Eve. With a gold-leaf frame and multi-faceted mat, this piece is a stunner and would be a great addition to any home! The piece has been brightening up my living room for years, but now it’s time for someone else to love it just like I have. - WP
