The consummate collaborator and uber-talented artist

(ATLANTA :: 3 December 2010) Last year, ARTvision’s theme was the “Year of Collaboration.” The spirit of that theme continues in 2010 with a number of pieces coming from both Kimber Herndon and Will Pollock.

The first piece is “
Solstice,” one of a group of mixed-media offerings that include found, re-used items. “Solstice” features a chunky, square photo canvas mounted on a painted, round iron medallion reclaimed from midtown’s Salvage Outlet. Kimber took Will’s photo canvas - shot during the early-morning hours on Chautauqua Lake, N.Y. - and affixed it to the medallion, then painted it to continue the lake theme.

Kimber also created ARTvision’s 2010 logo, using a hand-drawn technique that well reflects our event’s creative spirit.

Updated on 16 December: Check out “Bronze Silk,” a photo mounted to painted board.

Updated on 20 December: In the spirit of ARTvision’s 2010 theme, “XL: Style & Substance”, we offer a two-part, mixed-media piece by Kimber and Will Pollock entitled “In the Company/of Grace.” The piece is inspired by the wedding of Bill Brennan & Jim Verraros, held in Chicago in 2009.

The subjects of the first portion of the two-part piece, Penny Frulla and Jenna Werdell, are shown walking to a nearby lake to take some wedding candids. As bridesmaids for the wedding, the photo captures them in a quiet moment with the bridesmaids’ flowers tucked behind their backs.

This piece is a sequel to “
Moments that Matter,” a very successful piece from ARTvision 2009 that sold twice within a matter of minutes on New Year’s Eve 2009.

“In the Company/of Grace” marks the second time that Kimber & Will have collaborated on a mixed-media project based on found objects from junkyards. Both pieces feature curled-trim iron grates with mounted photo-on-wood and are recommended for Atlanta-area buyers only.
