** FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE **

(Monday 9 July 2012 :: ATLANTA) ARTvision Atlanta - its artists, volunteers and beneficiary, Positive Impact - is proud to announce the theme for its seventh consecutive year of fund-raising and advocacy.

Uncharted: Travel to Enchanted Lands” is a concept that celebrates far-flung, exotic destinations - both physical and emotional.

“This year you’ll see original works that challenge the consensus idea that travel is only a change of physical location,” says
Will Pollock, ARTvision’s founding director and curator. “I am deeply proud of all that our artists have done, and will continue to do, when they accept this year’s theme as an artistic challenge.”

Two early photographic entries have helped provide inspiration for this year’s theme. Both “
Enchanted Portal” by longtime ARTvision artist Brenda Knosher and Will Pollock’s “Watercolor in Craggnauen” represent our theme’s physical and ethereal locales.

According to Michael Baker, Director of Advancement for Positive Impact and staff liaison to ARTvision, the event will once again figure heavily in the agency’s fund-raising. “The evolution of ARTvision, thanks to Will's vision, has been incredible to watch unfold,” he says.

“Will has taken what was a remarkable New Year’s Eve party and turned it into a truly critical piece of my agency's fundraising plan. In this way, he has already challenged the concept of 'travel' as a change of location, by traveling the roads from the early seed days seven years ago to the rich collaboration of this year's ARTvision. We’re excited to be a part of this adventure, and thankful to all of my fellow artist-travelers who make this great event possible.”

We’re also proud to announce a few new enhancements to the ARTvision process.

  • For the first time, we will conduct a juried show, which means artists submit their works or concepts without entry fee to the jury panel and are either accepted or deferred to submit again for ARTvision-8.
  • Mark your calendars: ARTvision’s all-popular preview evening will be back again, this time on Thursday, 6 December 2012 with the location coming soon. Our official, catered ARTvision Atlanta gala will happen on 7 December 2012 from 7-10 p.m.
  • ARTvision is seeking a major Atlanta gallery for representation in the month of December. Are you a gallery with a desire to support a local charity? Please contact us ASAP and let us know!

As always, the works will be presented for final sale at Will’s
New Year’s Eve Gourmet Pizza Extravaganza, now in its 11th year. Will is also working on a forthcoming book entitled “Instinct in the Round: Gourmet Pizza for Good,” which chronicles the start of ARTvision and includes 20 of your favorite NYE pizza recipes. Fifty percent of after-cost proceeds will benefit Positive Impact.

If you’re an artist and would like to get on the mailing list for a 2012 prospectus, calendar deadlines and other news, please e-mail will at artvisiondirector AT stonefour.com.

As always,
our great thanks go out to the many artists, volunteers and donor-buyers who make this event so vibrant each year. Please like us on Facebook, link to our official ARTvision Pinterest board and follow us on Twitter and use (#enchantedlands) as your hashtag.
