"The Gloaming" - $150

(ATLANTA :: 24 November 2008) It took me a year and a half, but I finally nabbed Greg Davis for ARTvision.
And he's come through for Positive Impact with three beautiful pieces, all of which are exclusive to ARTvision buyers. Greg started painting only recently, satisfying a curiosity that he had for quite some time.
"I began painting about 4 years ago," he says. "It was something I had always wanted to try but had never started. I have always been attracted to abstract painting and thus, became my main focus. My main influences are the Abstract Expressionists and Color Field painters such as Willem de Kooning, Joan Mitchell, Mark Rothko, Hans Hoffman and Clifford Still. I enjoy working with various media and styles to find my own interpretation.
"I have always loved vivid color," he adds. "Most of my works involve the use and mixing of various colors to provide the viewer with a sense of action and excitement. Nature as viewed through the prism of abstraction is the inspiration for many of my works. I currently work with acrylics along with gesso and gels to bring depth to the pieces."Greg has graciously donated three beautiful paintings that he describes below.

"The pieces selected for ARTvision were each inspired by nature in their own way," he says. 'La Danse Rouge' (pictured above, right) is a contemplation on variations in color and shading, inviting the viewer to experience the interplay of the shades of red. 'The Gloaming' (at right), another variation of color and shading, brings to mind the last golden vestiges of the sun leaving the night sky. And 'Autumn ‘08' (middle left) is an abstraction of the many colors and shadings in the leaves on the trees that I saw from my window this fall."We had a beautiful fall this season and, thanks to Greg, we have three more great pieces to help Positive Impact make some much-needed cash. - WP
