The Funky, Off-beat Artistry of Jon Arge

“Drag Queen Rejoicing” could be the title of the collection Jon Arge is offering for ARTvision-6: “restoreARTive: creative therapy.” Named Best Local Artist by readers of GA Voice in 2010, Jon is found frequently bucking trends and busting preconceived notions - and that includes our custom-framed photos of drag queens like “DisFunksha.” (read more)

As he told Mike Fleming in a
profile of Jon in Project Q Atlanta last year:

“My art consists of everything I’ve shoved in my eyes since birth, and it’s all in my head mingling around like a cocktail party. I’m just the host,” he explains. “There are a billion different themes that can get it on in a billion different ways, and when a piece is ready, it simply reveals itself to me. I go to work on it, and while I’m doing so, the piece then reveals even more about itself along the way.”

This year we are offering multiple pieces - small and large - from Jon as full donations, so you’ll have to join us next Thursday to be some of the lucky ones to get these last remaining in the series. So...

Please join us this Thursday, 1 December 2011, at The Phillip Rush Center for ARTvision Atlanta’s first standalone event. As always, 100% of proceeds benefit Positive Impact. (RSVP on Facebook or Evite). Admission is free for all.
